

Charles Robert Dotson passed away quietly while surrounded by family on February 22nd, 2015 after a short illness. Charles was born to Charles and Eva Dotson in Akron, Ohio on May 29th, 1928. He was married to his wife of over 50 years, Lois Ilene Dotson who passed away July 26th, 2010. He is survived by seven children – Jerry McNelly, Alan (Sam) McNelly, Michael Dotson, Nancy Houck, Robin Rennells, Timothy Dotson and Julie Brown. Charles resided in Litchfield Park most of his adult life.
Charles graduated from the University of Akron, served in the United States Navy as an electronics technician and was then employed through retirement at Goodyear Aerospace (a.k.a. Loral Defense Systems). During his engineering career Charles was known for his extreme intellect and creativity which resulted in many highly technical patents for his inventions. After retirement, he continued his creative work making significant contributions to public, private and charitable enterprises.
Charles leaves behind a legacy of integrity, patriotism, generosity and compassion. He was known for giving to those less fortunate and touched the lives of many. He was admired, respected and loved by more than can be counted.
There will be a memorial service celebrating his life at 2pm, April 18th, 2015 at Green Acres Mortuary, 5830 West Missouri Ave., Glendale, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions to Hospice of the Valley.
