Charles “Chuck” William Haynes, Sr., age 92, retired exploration geologist, passed into eternity on 4/16/2024 in Phoenix, AZ. Born 3/5/1932 in Benton Harbor, MI. Preceded in death by parents Vernon & Carrie (Edmonds) Haynes, spouse Joyce (Jackson) Haynes, 2 siblings, a daughter, & a great-grandchild. Survivors include 2 children, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and countless extended family members.
To know Chuck was to experience unfailing love and his faithful devotion to Christ. He was not ashamed to stand by his convictions or lead by example, which he did consistently with integrity, whether in his professional career or as the family patriarch. He was proud of his career accomplishments in geology, had worked internationally, and seen & done many places & things that most will never see or do. He was proud to serve the Lord in many leadership roles to several congregations during his life, which he did so with gladness because he had found his true passion in life with Joyce, his spouse of 63 years. Their love to one another was evident in creating this legacy of family, which now grieves Chuck but also rejoices in his reunion with Joyce in Heaven as they await us all to join them someday in Christ.
A graveside service for Chuck will be held Thursday 5/2/2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Resthaven/Carr-Tenney Cemetery, 4310 E. Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042. A memorial to the celebration of Chuck’s life is pending in about a month at Life in Christ Lutheran Church, 14802 N. 75th Ave, Peoria, AZ 85381. Contributions may be made to the American Heart or Lung Associations, or Life in Christ Lutheran Church.
