Charles “Chuck” T. Speight (81) of Phoenix, Arizona entered into Rest on July 24, 2018. He was born in Dyersberg, Tennessee on 25 June 1937 to Edward and Lucille Speight. Chuck graduated from Dyersberg High School in 1954 and joined the Air Force immediately upon graduation at age 17 to pursue his love of aircraft. Then, on his birthday in 1960, Chuck married the love of his life Carol Jordan (with the approval of their parents) at the Little Chapel of the West located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Chuck made the Air Force his career with an enlistment spanning 23 years that took him across the globe to such remote places as Thailand and Korea, and several states in the US before settling at Luke AFB in 1969. Upon retirement, he was then employed through the Federal Civil Service for an additional 30 years as a civilian, the whole time pursuing his passion as a jet fighter mechanic as part of Tactical Aircraft Maintenance. For recreation, Chuck loved watching Sprint Car Racing and had a passion for attending AFGE American Federation of Government Employees, which he did even after he retired. A loyal and devoted family man, Chuck leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Carol; children Jackie, Bobi (Chuck), Ronny (Amanda), and Danny; 10 Grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and his brother Bill. Chuck is preceded in Heaven by both of his parents, sister Helen Ruth and baby brother Roy Edward.
