Christine Poon

Christine Poon, age 88, of Surprise, Arizona passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Christine had battled with dementia for more than 15 years. She was born in Ipoh, Malaysia and lived in New Hampshire where she met her loving husband, Kam Poon in 1970 and together had their beautiful daughter, Selena in 1973. In 2003, they moved from New Hampshire to Arizona where they continued living their best life and together celebrated 54 years of marriage.

In her earlier years, Christine went to Australia to teach and then to England for nursing school. She came to the U.S to work at Beth Israel Hospital in New York and worked as a nurse for 40 years in various settings, including the emergency room, corporate settings, physician offices, and even in a jail. She was a very diligent and determined hard worker she worked the second shift and also earned her bachelor’s degree while working full time and raising her young daughter, Selena.

She loved shopping, making jewelry, and eating good food, especially Chinese food and seafood.

Christine is survived by her loving husband, Kam, her daughter Selena, and her grandchildren, Lily (21) and Jackson (17).

A memorial service will be held for Christine on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10 AM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301. Following the memorial service will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.
