The memory that warms my heart took place in Arizona when we flew in for Grandma’s 85th. Turns out I had a sinus infection and was in a great deal of pain when the plane landed. I stayed at Aunt Clara’s, who took me to a Dr., then gave me meds through the days and nights so I would be ok for the flight back to PA. She was so kind and loving to me and it remains a fond memory of my young adulthood.

The memory that makes me chuckle took place ten or more years later. I was somewhat newly divorced, living with my 2 boys. Aunts Clara and Bolette called me and suggested I might be a good match with my cousin who was single. I won’t mention his name, he knows who he is. He and I talked and to my Aunts’ disappointment, we did not agree to date or wed. 

My Aunt Clara and I  corresponded over many years. She kept up with my many addresses over the years (I’ve had many.)  She would often start a letter to me by saying that I must have forgotten her because I didn’t write back quickly enough. She gave me newsy letters to keep me up with the family, sometimes a little family history.  Unfortunately I waited a little too long after her last letter. I regret not sending one back.  I will miss her. She stood in the gap for me, loving me when my own Mom couldn’t.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I’m going to miss my aunt Clara. We did a lot of riding back-and-forth and talking. It was a wonderful lady.
