Dale Yost Freed

Dale was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Melissa Freed Henry, and his parents, Bessie Harriet Yost and Clyde Samuel Freed. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bruce C. Freed.

Dale is survived by his wife, Donna Freed, to whom he was married for 42 years; his son, Dale Freed Jr. (Karen); his daughter, Kymberly Edwards (Scott); and his son, Curtis Braxdale (Donna). He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 2 great-granddaughters, who brought him immense joy.

Dale proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Major after 20 years of service. During his military career, he earned his Master’s in Computer Science, beginning a lifelong career in technology.

In 1983, Dale moved to Arizona, where he met the love of his life, Donna. They married in 1984 and spent the next 42 years building a life filled with family, friendship, adventure, and countless memories.

Following his military career, Dale enjoyed a successful career in computer science, working with Honeywell Bull and State of AZ. Ending his career at Thunderbird High School, where he spent the later part of his career doing what came naturally to him—helping students and faculty. Dale had a gift for solving problems, helping others, and making people feel that no matter what they needed, he would find a way to help.

Outside of work, Dale loved life and the people in it. He and Donna enjoyed traveling together, making memories in places such as Ireland and Jamaica, as well as spending quiet time at one of their favorite getaways, the cabin in Christopher Creek, Arizona. He enjoyed playing pool and darts, socializing with friends, and of course, letting Donna beat him at Yahtzee. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Dale had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and cherished. He was the person people could always turn to. Whether someone needed help solving a problem, a friendly conversation, or simply someone to be there, Dale was always willing to lend a hand.

His kindness, patience, humor, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help others left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.

Dale's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of helping others will continue through the many lives he made better.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
