

Daniel Lee McDowell was born on October 28, 1957 to Gordon Alvin and Iona Marie McDowell in Walla Walla, Washington, where he grew up and graduated high school. After graduation, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints in San Diego, California. Upon completion of his two-year mission, he attended Utah Technical College where he met his eternal companion, Kelly Poston. They were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on June 10, 1982.
Together they had four beautiful daughters and raised them in Glendale, Arizona. Dan worked as a designer for Dashmat.
Dan was actively engaged in the church serving others in multiple capacities, including Young Men President, Elders Quorum President, Bishop, and finally a counselor in the Stake Presidency of the Glendale Stake. He loved serving with the youth.
Dan passed away in his home on September 22, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly, his four daughters, Ashley (Randy) Conrad, Lindsay (Disraeli) Rangel, Breanne (Christopher) Mortensen, Brooke (Keith) Farnsworth, his siblings Grace (Lee) Bagwell, Carol (Paul) Wells, Alvin (Fran) McDowell, Norman (Kim) McDowell, Jeanne (Doug) Kerr, Rodney (Dale Sue) McDowell, and 14 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Liam Rangel.
Funeral services will be held on October 11, 2025, at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 8602 N 31st Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85051.
Visitation will be held on October 11, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 8602 N 31st Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85051.
The funeral service will follow on October 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the same location.
A graveside service will take place on October 11, 2025, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.
