DeNelda Hirschfeld

Was Born November 21, 1945 in Snowflake, Arizona.

Nelda passed away peacefully June 3, 2026 in Peoria, Arizona.

Nelda was the first of 3 beautiful girls born to Robert and Mettie Lee. She had 2 Sisters, Linda Laird and Patricia Cornwall, plus a Brother, Jerry Elrod.

Nelda Married Dale Hirschfeld on May 21, 1977. Together they had one son, Steven Hirschfeld, 2 Grandsons Nate and Luke Hirschfeld who both now serve proudly in the US Navy and US Marine Corps respectively.

Nelda was an accomplished business woman and entrepreneur. She began working while attending Phoenix West High School at Wilco, a retail store by her home. Upon graduating from West High in 1963, Nelda went to work for the K Mart Corporation where she rose to the level of Western United States Personnel Director.

She traveled across the Western United States opening stores for the company. Upon the birth of her son Steven, she no longer wanted to be away from home traveling. Needing to work to help support the family she did many things such as sell Pampered Chef products, Sarah Coventry Jewelry, and even started her very own first company. A retail and wholesale Candy and Cake store which she operated along with family members for several years.

Nelda was always wanting to take full advantage of her many business skills she had perfected over the years. Her next adventure was her biggest and most successful. She started a company specializing in the cleaning of Model Homes at New Home Sales offices located around the Metropolitan Phoenix area. She worked with companies such as Meritage, Richmond American, Coventry, Pulte, and many more. She built it to be one of, if not the biggest such company in the Valley.

But more important than all her business accolades, Nelda was a person of strength and character who was loved by her family, co-workers, friends at church, anyone and everyone who had the opportunity to know her, Loved Her.

Although Nelda was born in Snowflake, she lived her early years in Show Low, Arizona before moving to Phoenix where she lived a full and rewarding life. Her love, kindness and giving ways to her family and friends was undeniable. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to be a part of her life.

Nelda is survived by her son Steven, grandsons Nate and Luke, step grandchildren, Jorden, Noah, Zane, Jadin and Mason. Sister Patricia Cornwall, Brother-in-Law David Cornwall, Sister-in-Law Nancy Elrod.

A Funeral Service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave. Glendale, AZ 85301 on June 26th, 2026. from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, on June 26, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.

Followed by a catered reception at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
