Dennis Robert Prado, 80, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on May 12, 2026. Born February 22, 1946, in Upland, California, Dennis lived a life marked by devotion, steady hard work, and a gentle presence that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
As the oldest of six siblings, Dennis spent part of his early years in Chavez Ravine—an area that would later become the site of Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium—before his family moved to Santa Fe Springs. He attended elementary school at Rancho Los Nietos and graduated from Pioneer High School. In those years, he played the trumpet in the Pioneer High School band and marched in parades at his mother’s request, even though he did not enjoy it—an early glimpse of the quiet devotion that would characterize so much of his life.
Dennis enlisted in the United States Army and earned the rank of Sargent. Serving as a helicopter mechanic, he carried out his duties with diligence and care, and he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defence Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. After leaving the Army, Dennis worked for a Chevron gas station before later moving to Arizona, where his strong work ethic and pride in craftsmanship found lasting expression. In 1977, he founded Prado and Son's Pool Plastering, a business he was exceptionally proud of. Dennis was among the first companies to introduce Pebble Tec to the Valley, creating beautiful pool interiors built to last for generations. Known throughout the pool industry as one of—if not the best—applictors in the country, Dennis earned respect through unmatched dedication and attention to detail.
In 1967, Dennis met his future wife, Diane Dominguez, at his cousin Yvonne’s wedding. Diane lived 45 minutes away, and Dennis would regularly make the drive just to see her—an enduring testament to the devoted love that would shape their life together. They married in 1969 and shared 53 happy years of marriage. Together they raised their two children, Steven and Denise, and Dennis later became a proud Papa to his four grandchildren.
Dennis found peace and joy outdoors, where he loved hunting and fishing. He also had a special affection for his birds, and those close to him will remember the gentle care he gave to the things he loved.
Dennis is survived by his son, Steven Prado (Monica Prado); his daughter, Denise Prado; his grandchildren, Steven Andrew Prado Jr., Devoree Aness Prado, Elliot James Blake, and Camila Shaye Blake; and his siblings, neices and nephews.
