Doreen Lorna Martin

84 passed away on 31 August 2011 at Artemis Adult Care in Phoenix, AZ. Born to British parents in Allahabad, India in 1926, she was christened Doreen Lorna Kerry. In 1945 she married RAF officer, Owen Bernard Platel (d. 1999). They immigrated to England in 1946, to Canada in 1947, and to the United States (AZ) in 1965. Doreen loved to play Bingo, enjoyed league bowling, crocheting, knitting, needlework, and gardening. She was known for her baking skills, exquisite needlecrafts, a sense of fun, a generous heart, and her love of babies. One of eight siblings, Doreen is survived by two brothers and one sister and numerous nieces and nephews, all living in England. She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Platel Nicholas (David Nicholas) of Tucson, AZ, and Penni Platel of Toronto, Canada. She will be missed by her four grandchildren, James Redding, David Punteney, Victoria Bradshaw (Jim Bradshaw), and Rebekah Harris (Drew Harris), and by her two great-grandchildren Nathan and Tyler Bradshaw. Doreen is also predeceased by her second husband Julian Martin (d. 2006).
