

Elva Hoyos, born on June 1, 1939, in Tucson, Arizona, passed away on February 16, 2026, at the age of 86. She was a resident of Phoenix, Arizona. Elva was the beloved daughter of Ester and Manuel Romero and the eldest of twelve siblings, survived only by her sister Matilda.
She shared a long and loving marriage of over 54 years with her husband, Mario Hoyos Sr. Together, they raised four children: Terrance, who preceded her in death, Mario, Josefina, and Carolina. Elva was a devoted grandmother to Valeria, Johnny, Guillermo, and Cruz. Her extended family included many nephews and nieces who cherished her deeply.
Elva was renowned for her exceptional cooking skills and had a passion for sewing and crafting. She had a profound love for music and always endeavored to see the bright side of life. Her strong faith provided her with comfort and courage, and she was unafraid of death, confident in her journey to be with her Lord.
Elva's life is difficult to capture in words, but her memory will live on through the love and joy she brought to those around her.
Visitation will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, on March 2, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. A Rosary will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 5614 W Orangewood Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. The Funeral Mass will take place at the same church from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm. A Committal Service will be held at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. A reception will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 8066 N 49th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85032, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
