Mike grew up in California and when he was a young man he enlisted in the Army where he served our country in Vietnam. When he returned, he married and had two wonderful sons, Tim and John, whom he loved very much and was very proud of. A few years later, Mike moved his family to Phoenix where he worked for Case as a heavy-duty machinery mechanic.
In September of 2000, he met and fell in love with his second wife, Sherrie. They eloped and were married on a boat on the Arizona side of the Colorado River on August 25, 2001. He also became a loving father to Sherrie's daughter, Lauren.
Mike had many interests and hobbies. He liked to jump in the car and "do Arizona." He especially liked to explore old mining towns and ride trains. He collected first-edition comic books, model robots, small fossils, and anything Mickey Mouse. He was a kind, loving and gentle man and was always willing to help others, Sometimes Mike would hear a cute joke at work, but would get too tickled while telling it to finish.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sherrie, and his children: Timothy Urban, John Urban, and Lauren Victoria. He also has nine grandchildren: Danny Cross, Andy Urban, Sam Bennick, Joe Bennick, Emma Victoria, Haleymay Urban, Zoey Figueroa, Levi Urban, and Faith Figueroa.
He is preceded in death by his father, Forest John Urban, and his mother Lillian Jensen Urban. He has a brother, Forest Melvin Urban, and a sister, Patricia Ann Urban.
He always made us feel loved and special. We will miss him very much. Our hearts are broken that we had to let him go but we will rejoin him later.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 12:30 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024).
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.westresthavenfuneralhome.com for the Urban family.
