Geneva Juanita Carter, 93, of Phoenix Arizona passed away peacefully on August 31, 2019 in her home with her family close by. Geneva was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Reatha Briggs Southerland and Cephus Henry Coley, the only child. Due to illnesses both parents passed when Geneva was a very young child. She was raised by her grandparents Lon and Cordelia. She met her only Love, Wendell Wayne Carter and they were married in the Bowling Green Courthouse on December 8, 1945 and they remained married until she passed on.

Geneva and her family moved from Bowling Green in July 1956 to Arizona. After trying to adjust to the right region, the family settled down in Phoenix. Geneva had many hobbies to keep her busy while engaging with her family. Geneva loved to read her Bible, daily readings, the country magazines and Woman’s World, and watching Billy Graham on TV. She loved to grow flowers. She enjoyed cooking, especially her Christmas fudge. Geneva had many favorites such as large sun flowers, she had a yellow belly bush in her front yard, and chrysanthemums. She also loved angels. She loved to share the country with her family going on fishing trips and camping and enjoying looking at rustic areas and she had a love of barns. She always took time to send with her family and friends, never in a hurry to stop visiting with those she loved.

Christmas was one of her favorite times of the year and the tree was usually the focal point.

She will be most remembered for her love of family, God and the beautiful nature that she did not take for granted.

Geneva leaves behind her husband of 73 years Wendell; her daughters Carolyn Clyatt & Diana (Tommy) Thomas; grandchildren Jennifer (Darin) Betts & Sarah (Jeff) Wolter; 5 great grandchildren Nolan, Dean & Katherine Wolter, and Adarene & Hannah Betts; special family members Holly & Lee Thomas; and Bucky Clyatt.

Geneva is preceded in death by her parents Reatha and Cephus and the grandparents who raised her Lon and Cordelia.
