George Albert Gill, a beloved and faithful man, passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on September 20, 1947, in Hayward, California, George grew up in Glendale, Arizona, where he spent much of his life. He was the cherished son of the late Silas Gill and Marianna (Mace) Gill and had three siblings.
A Marine Corps veteran, George served his country with dedication during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Camp Pendleton. He was part of a team assigned to protect the "Western White House," President Nixon's home in San Clemente. After his military service, George worked at Honeywell for many years as an aerospace machinist, contributing his skills to the production of parts for passenger jets, fighter jets, and the Space Shuttle.
George was a loving father and grandfather, known for being very hands-on and giving the best Christmas presents to his granddaughters, Eleanor and Clara. He shared a close relationship with his siblings, Aaron, Jane, and Betty.
In his personal life, George had a passion for collecting coins, riding his quarter horse Debbie, and enjoying the open road on his motorcycle. He loved fishing, deer hunting, and being outdoors. A devout man, he found joy in his faith and was a huge cinephile, frequently visiting the movie theater.
George was known for his humorous nature and his ability to make others smile. His love for his family was profound, and he was a jokester whose laughter and spirit brought joy to those around him.
George will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His laughter and joking spirit will remain in their memories forever. He is survived by his son, Adam Gill (Crystal McDevitt), and two granddaughters, Eleanor and Clara, his brother, Aaron Gill (Lillian Gill), and his sisters, Jane Gill and Betty Gill. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Silas Aaron Gill, and his mother, Marianna (Mace) Gill.
George's visitation will take place at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 8:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 9:00 AM. A committal service will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on July 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
