Helen Murray

Helen (Herkel, Gall) Murray, age 92, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2018.

She was born on January 12, 1926 in West Virginia, the youngest of four children of Mike and Margaret Herkel. Helen was a Navy wife and the family moved frequently. Their family grew to five children. In 1959 she settled in Phoenix, permanently, to begin a new journey. For 25 years she worked at Chamber Belt Company. After retirement she took anther position at the Manzanita Senior Center where she stayed for many years. She was always busy knitting, crocheting and baking for others. Helen was a charter member of Freeway Baptist Church attending for over 50 years.

Helen is survived by her five children; Margaret, Robert David, Loretta (Chuck), Emery (Pam) and Steve (Sherry); 7 grandchildren; Robert (Keri), Kenneth, Rachel, Jason (Jessica), Amy (Micah), Daniel (Amanda) and Dana; 9 great-grandchildren; Cody, Daniel, Kela, Kilie, Kenneth Ryan, Mia, Kalynn, Taylor and Teri; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Her unconditional love and beautiful smile always lit up a room. She will be missed by all her family and friends. She was definitely the queen of our hearts. Donations in her memory can be made to Freeway Baptist Church 8501 N. Black Canyon Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85021.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday April 21, 2018 at 11am at The Freeway Baptist Church 8501 N. Black Canyon Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85021.
