Henry "Hank" Warren Vaughn Jr. was born on August 13, 1949, in Rome, New York, and passed away on June 12, 2026, at the age of 76. He was a longtime resident of Laveen, Arizona, but his roots and stories always had a way of traveling—often with a laugh, and sometimes with a suitcase already packed.
Hank attended Rome Free Academy and graduated with the Class of ’67, carrying forward the kind of steady grit and good humor that served him well in every chapter that followed.
A proud Vietnam Veteran as a Marine, Hank’s life reflected commitment and loyalty in ways both big and everyday. He dedicated 32 years to Service Wire, and he also poured years of time and heart into community life—holding many chairs of office with the Elks Lodge since 1980, and maintaining membership in the American Legion and VFW. He showed up, he pitched in, and he did it with the kind of spirit that made people glad he was in the room.
In the quieter, happiest moments, Hank enjoyed the simple joys that somehow never felt small: watching WWE and Yellowstone with Sandy, and sharing the comfortable rhythm of time spent together. He also loved visiting Laughlin every year and taking several cruises—proof that he appreciated a good getaway, a good view, and the fun of seeing what was around the next bend.
Hank was predeceased by his parents, Henry Sr. and Katherine Vaughn. He is survived by his partner Sandra of 21 years; his children Tina, Tammy(Andrew), and Henry III(Dulce); his grandchildren Chadisty(Frank), Cody, Robert IV, Francis(Cheila), Paulina(Ethan), Brianna(Chris), Alexander(Valerie), Julian; and his great-grandchildren Lorenzo, Elias, Arabella, Sabastian, Kayson, Xochi, Eevee, Celeste, and expected baby girl, and Sandra's daughters Sara and Susan(Matthew) and her children Kamila(Michael) and Mattie. He is also survived by his brother Edward Vaughn, and sister Pamela LaMay, and many many cousins.
Those who knew Hank will remember a man who could balance duty with delight—someone who worked hard, served faithfully, loved his people, and still made room for the kind of laughter that keeps a family close and a life well-lived.
Hank will be laid to rest at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Monday, July 6th, 2026 at 9:00am
