Jack Baxter was born on June 6th, 1938 to Herman and Lilly Baxter. He grew up in Ohio, the youngest of 5 boys. During his life, he spoke fondly of his upbringing on the farm and warmly of his brothers. A country boy at heart, he always retained his love of tractors, boots, and overalls.
While in his early 20s, Jack moved with his brothers from Ohio to Phoenix, seeking work. Unbeknownst to him, it was here that he would meet the love of his life, Rae Dawn. After a whirlwind courtship, they would marry on June 15th, 1960. The couple split their time between Manti, Utah, and Phoenix, Arizona until making Phoenix their permanent home. They would go on to have 6 children together; Kathie, Debi, Tina, Danny, Leslie, and Jeffrey.
Jack was an Air Force veteran and a union sprinkler-fitter by trade, but his main passion in life was family. Jack loved being a husband and father, and while at a family gathering to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary he remarked with a smile, " I have everything I've ever wanted." The couple would go on to be married for 61 years.
Jack was a simple man that enjoyed westerns, cooking, cars, and time with loved ones. He was kind and selfless, and to know him was to love him. He lived a full life. Filled with his wife, whom he adored, his children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren.
The world was a better place by virtue of him inhabiting it and is darker today for the loss of him. His humor, love, earnestness, and limitless kindness will be missed by all who were privileged to know him.
