Jack Lester Lentz, a cherished, hard-working, and resilient man, passed away on June 29, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in Chicago on May 23, 1930, Jack was the eldest of three children to parents Darwin "Jack" and Sally Lentz.
In 1960, Jack began his career at Biddulph Oldsmobile, where he dedicated over 30 years of service before retiring. A proud veteran, Jack served in the Army for eight years and was a Korean War veteran.
Jack married Dorothy Cowden in the mid-1950s, and they shared many years together until her passing in 2001. He later married Nellie Sheraton, who passed away in 2024.
Jack had a zest for life, which was evident in his love for sports. He enjoyed watching and participating in various activities and was playing full-court basketball into his 70s. Jack was an avid bicyclist, riding a 10-speed, and golf became his latest passion. He also enjoyed computer card and board games, sushi, and sake bombs. Playing the guitar was one of his joys, and it was a sad moment when he recently had to give it up.
Jack is survived by his three children, Jack (Dianna) Lentz, Steven (Maryann) Lentz, and Sandy Hack; his sister, Toni (Lowell) Hofer; six grandchildren, Kim, Rebekah, Jason, Monica, Jennifer, and Kylie; and nine great-grandchildren, Lauren, Luke, Lily, Laklyn, Addison, Chase, Rose, Charlotte, and Emilia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, Jack was preceded in death by a daughter Sally Davenport and his brother, Robert Bird.
A memorial service for Jack will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10AM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. Family and friends are invited to attend. Burial with military honors will follow in Resthaven Park Cemetery.
Jack will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.
