

Jack Lopez, born Leonardo Jaquin Lopez on August 16, 1944, in Tempe to Casimiro and Rose Marie Lopez, passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 80. Known affectionately as Jackie during his high school years, he was a beloved, hard-working, and patriotic individual who touched the lives of many.
Jackie served with distinction in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. After his service, he worked as a heavy equipment operator and was affiliated with IUOE Local 428, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic.
On February 2, 1968, Jackie married Sylvia Padilla, and together they raised two children, Rachelle and Steven.
He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Sylvia; his daughter, Rachelle Lopez, and her husband, Gabe Rastorfer; his son, Steven Lopez; his sister, Lydia Soza; six grandchildren, Randy, Tyler, Kenzie, JD, Jacob, and Joslyn; four great-grandchildren, Ryder, Oakley, Zion, and Rhys; one niece and six nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Lopez.
A Rosary will be held on January 10, 2025, at 9:30 am at St. Jerome Catholic Church, located at 10815 North 35th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85029. Following the Rosary, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, with the Rendering of Military Honors at approximately 10:45 am.
Jackie will be remembered for his humor, his love for his country, and the joy he brought to his family and friends.
