John Francis (Jack J.) Sowell of Phoenix AZ, passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2024 in Mesa AZ. He was born on February 4, 1936 and was the first child to the late Pleamon Jackson (Jack) Sowell and Apolonia (Polly) Emily Van De Beuken in St. Joseph’s hospital in Phoenix AZ. He attended Phoenix Union High School in Phoenix AZ and graduated with the class of 1954. Jack was married to his late wife Janet Anne King in Phoenix AZ in 1965. Together they raised their son John Francis Sowell Jr. Jack then married Kathleen Mary Sendelbach in Glendale AZ in 2003. She passed in 2014.
Jack worked his entire adult life at and retired from Holsum Bakery after he was unable to complete basic training in the United States Navy due to a knee injury he sustained as a child.
Jack is survived by his brother Edward Frederick Sowell, his sister Apolonia (Polly) Rita Sowell and his three beautiful granddaughters Katherine, Samantha and Brianna. He was preceded in death by his two other brothers Thad and Tom Sowell.
