James Howard Hough

James “Jim/Jimmy” was born on October 31, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William (“Bill”) and Elizabeth (“Betty”) Hough, shortly after Bill returned home from his service in World War II.

Jim graduated Euclid High School in 1965 and served in the Navy from 1966 to 1967 as a Naval Aircrewman who flew on H-34 helicopters in Pensacola, Florida.

Jim was also an avid enthusiast of Porsche and owned three during his lifetime, including a 1986 944 model. In 1971, a Porsche saved Jim’s life in an almost fatal car accident. When he woke from a coma, the first person Jim asked for was Barbara (“Barb”) whom he met one week before—and the rest is history.

Jim and Barb married on June 23, 1972, and raised two daughters together. Jim was an award-winning industrial salesman and his career relocated he and his family from Garfield Heights, Ohio to Warren, Michigan then to Holland, Michigan located on beautiful Lake Michigan. Jim loved history, aircraft, photography, the Cleveland Browns, and was a part of the International Plastic Modelers Society. In 2008, Jim retired with Barb and moved to Glendale, Arizona to be with their daughters and grandchildren.

Jim is survived by and deeply missed but “Staying Alive” in the thoughts, memories, and actions of his wife, Barbara Jean (Mackey) Hough, of 52 years; two daughters, Bridget Marie Hough and Beth Claire (Hough) Bovee; son-in-law, Kyle Bovee; and six loving grandchildren, Jordan Marie, Joset Sofia, and Gabriel James (“Bigguy”) Garcia, Antoinette Madeline, Isabelle Harper, and Duncan Gray Bovee; his sister, Bonita (“Bonnie” Hough) Chaves, and brother-in-law David Chaves, as well as nephews, nieces, and other family members and countless individuals who were touched in some way by Jim’s signature smile, willingness to listen, welcoming presence, decency, silliness, and sparking blue eyes.

James was a proud and dedicated father and grandfather. He showed his family profound love and care each and every day…“Papo, we will forever miss your constant comfort… Peace and Tranquility.”
