James Leland Stanfill

Date of Birth: December 17, 1946.

James’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. James passed away on December 19, 2021 after a long and arduous but courageous battle with COVID 19. Loved ones will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

The simplest pleasures in life brought joy to Jim. He loved Mexican Food, especially chimichangas and cosido, country music, with one favorite, Reba McEntire (whom he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of meeting in 2003), watching old western movies, wrestling and reruns of Chicago P.D.

He had a love of life and family. He was stubborn, but he was also a true gentleman with a heart the size of Texas. When asked to describe Jim, people often use the words true friend, compassionate, ornery, dependable, loving and a big time jokester. Jim will be remembered by his family and friends for all the laughs had on camping trips, riding water toys and fishing at the lake. Jim relished his time at Country Thunder every year and Rocky Point. He enjoyed Laughlin and Las Vegas every chance he got, he was a self-described “door knob buyer” when he would lose.

Jim was born in Denver, Colorado and nicknamed “Whitey” for his snow white hair. He honorably served in the United States Navy as a Seaman Apprentice – Gunner’s Mate and is known as Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle and friend to many.

He is survived by: Daughter: Tricia L. Stanfill-Abney (Amy) Son: Steven L. Stanfill (Teresa)

Grandchildren: Porsche, Samantha, Chloe, Amber, Hannah

Great Grandchildren: Ryder, Paislee, Landon, Lakelee, Liam, Kylee, Rylee

Sister: Linda Huttenhow

Nieces: Shari and Michele

Nephew: Terry

Jim was proceeded in death by his father Leland Laverne Stanfill and mother Margie Ruth Stanfill.
