

81, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 2, 2010. Born Phoenix, Arizona. Survived by his loving family: wife of 58 years Willie Mae; four children Leonard and wife Carole, Rodney, Mai-Lon and husband Eddy, Mai-Ling and husband Howard; two grandsons Jarrett and Steven; and five sisters Rose, Gladys, Bette, Kitty, and Hazel. Rocky, a graduate of Phoenix Union High School, attended both Phoenix College and Arizona State College, now Arizona State University. At ASU, he became an avid Sun Devils sports fan, holding football season tickets since the 1950's, and often would be seen wearing a maroon and gold Sun Devils shirt. Rocky, a member of both First Chinese Baptist Church and Northwest Chinese Baptist Church, served on the Ushers committee, adult and youth outreach programs, coached both men/boys and women/girls softball teams, and organized basketball tournaments. Rocky was proud to serve his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict; and was awarded United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal, and Korean War Service Medal. After his service, he continued his desire to serve by becoming the Commander of the American Legion Thomas Tang Post 50 to support Veteran programs, initiatives, and the active troops. Rocky, a Phoenix native, was committed to served his community. Active involvement included Board member of Area Agency for the Aging; President of Asian Chamber of Commerce; Editorial Board member of Asian SUNews; Pacific Rim Advisory Council member; South Mountain Community College, President's Community Advisory Council volunteer; Attorney General Terry Goddard's Asian American Community Justice Council member; City of Phoenix Sister Cities Taipei Committee member; Project PRIME, Arizona State University volunteer; Chinese United Association of Greater Phoenix member; Phoenix Chinese Senior Citizens Association member; Ong Ko Met Association member; and established a Grand Canyon University Scholarship. Rocky touched many lives, and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he served. Visitation and Services will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona. Visitation will be Friday, April 9 between 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Services will be Saturday, April 10 at 10:00am.
