Jan was born to the late Max and Evelyn Weniger, a Southern Baptist pastor and a homemaker/Organist/Sunday school teacher, in Minneapolis, MN on April 13, 1945. Spending time growing up in both California and Minnesota, she was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age.
In addition to being a loving mother and wife, Jan was also a dedicated English, Speech, and Drama teacher. She loved every student that walked into her classroom. She touched thousands of lives in her decades in the classroom and on the stage. When she wasn’t teaching, Jan spent her free time volunteering in church leading children’s ministries and spearheading plays, skits, and other productions. When Jan retired and moved to Douglas, GA her new passion became helping those that needed to hear the Gospel in the local jail. She delivered books, led Bible studies, and constantly demonstrated her love for Jesus. While she suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for much of her adult life, she never allowed it to dampen her spirit and stands as a shining example of a life lived for Christ despite physical hardships.
Jan is survived by her husband, Keith; Brothers, Rev. Dennis Weniger (Dale) of Broxton, GA and Dr. Brad Weniger (Gwendolyn) of Woodbridge, VA; Sons, Dr. Adam Boettcher (Tonya) of Flagstaff, AZ, Trevor Boettcher of Charlotte, NC and Mikade Boettcher of Douglas, GA; Grandchildren Josslyn and Carson Boettcher of Flagstaff, AZ.
Details and timing of Jan’s memorial service will be forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
