Jeanne Martha Schlegel

84 of Glendale, Arizona, passed away on July 12, 2013. She was born in Long Island and grew up in Milford, Connecticut where she met her husband Frederick, who was home on military leave from the Army. Theirs became a wartime romance. She loved crocheting, knitting, quilting and sewing. She also loved roses and bears of all kinds. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and husband of 52 years, Frederick Joseph Schlegel. She is survived by her brother Carl Hilgenfeldt of California; daughter Linda Steele of Columbus, Indiana; son Fred Schlegel of Peeples Valley; 3 granddaughters, Lisa, Meghan, and Samantha Steele of Columbus, Indiana; 1 grandson Justin Schlegel of Peoria; and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be Wednesday,July 17, 2013 at 10am at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale with visitation beginning at 9am also at the mortuary. Entombment at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, AZ.
