Joe A. Marin Sr., "Mariñe"

90, of Glendale, Arizona passed away peacefully on June 16, 2010 with his family at his side. Marine was born in Miami, Arizona on May 13, 1920 and was a lifelong Arizona resident. The oldest of a family of 10, he became the bread winner at an early age (14). He supported the family, always making sure his siblings had first before him. Marine was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII in the south pacific. He had a passion for baseball and played for the Glendale Tigers. Marine also had a passion for dancing and never left the dance floor at family events. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by all who knew him. Marine is preceded in death by his wife Josie, daughter Becky and grandson Carlos (Chucky). Survivors include his sons Joe Jr. (Olivia), Ray, David (Erma), 3 sisters, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Visitation on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be at OLPH Catholic Church, 5614 W. Orangewood Ave, Glendale AZ on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix AZ.
