He was born on August 28, 1927, in what used to be Marinette, Arizona. Joe was the youngest of seven children born to the late Leondro and Teofila Rangel.
He married Josefa Gonzalez in 1949; they shared over 64 years of marriage prior to her passing on May 19, 2013.
Joe served in the United States Army. He was a bus driver and custodian for Glendale Union School District for many years. After retiring Joe started his own landscaping business.
He is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Rangel, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren (with the tenth due in October) and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents Joe was preceded in death by a son Joe Rangel, Jr., daughter Esther Rangel Wokvish, two brothers and four sisters.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial mass on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 10AM at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Avenue, Phoenix. Burial will take place at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
