John “Jack’ B. Mansfield, 85, passed away on November 30th in the company of family and friends in Glendale, AZ. To know Jack was to love him. He was a proud New Englander, with a thick Boston accent and a soft heart.
John was raised in Boston. He met the love of his life Sheila Hennessey 65 years ago and settled down in Brockton, MA to raise a family. Sheila predeceased him in March of this year. He is survived by and will be deeply missed by all who knew him but particularly his children. Cheryle Flinn and spouse Briant of Buckeye AZ, Eric Mansfield and his wife Michelle of Cottonwood, AZ, predeceased by Michelle Mahoney the wife of Charles of Glendale, AZ, Lisa McLaughlin and her husband Jay of Easton, MA and Bruce Mansfield and his wife Lisa of Chula Vista, CA. His many grandchildren are saddened by the loss of Jack who could show them how to fix anything, share a hair raising story from his years as an ironworker or deliver a joke that would make them laugh. He and Sheila were also committed foster parents to dozens of children over many years in Massachusetts.
Jack “The Face” recently was the proud recipient of his 65 year Ironworker Boston Local 7 pin. He took up Locksmithing in his retirement, to distract him from golfing too much. He saved many lives with his skills and kindness. He loved the interaction with those in his industry learning and sharing his skills. Many of his customers became friends over the 20 plus years he ran his business with Sheila.
Jack wanted no formal ceremony, his family and friends will gather privately to remember him. Please donate to goodwill.org in his name in lieu of flowers.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ChapeloftheChimesMortuary.com for the Mansfield family.
