Juanita was born the youngest of 7 children on July 28, 1924 in New Castle, Indiana. After high school she earned an Associate Degree from a business college, and worked as a secretary until she married Allen Long. After her first child, Michael was born she started her own business selling seeds and sewing machines so she could work from home. Juanita and Allen subsequently divorced, and Juanita moved with 6 year old Michael to California. In California Juanita met Joe Le Grant and they were married in 1956. After the birth of their daughter Lisa, the family relocated to Arizona and Juanita eventually went to work for Arctic Storage where she was an executive secretary for many years. After the death of her husband Joe, Juanita met and married David Gray. Juanita and David ran several successful businesses together yet managed to find time to travel frequently, something Juanita had always yearned to do. She was predeceased by David in 2012.
A vibrant and energetic woman of strong faith, Juanita was active in her church and with her mall walking community into her early 90s. Her humor, love and support will be missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by her children Michael (Angel) Long and Lisa (Patric) Daniels, 5 grandchildren, Nicole, Mary, Joe (Mimi), Jacob (Bevann) and Matthew (Ashley), and 10 great grandchildren.
A special, heartfelt “Thank You!” to all the excellent care staff at Desert Stream Adult Care Home and to her compassionate hospice team at Hospice of the Valley.
There will be a small graveside service Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:00AM at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale.
