Dear family,

I’m so sorry I didn’t have the composure to give my speech at the funeral.  Ms. Richards said I should share it on the obituary and that the family should hear it.  

My name is Candace, well actually Ms. Delgado as Karrie would say. Even though we were dear friends she always made sure to address me in our teacher capacity. This was just a testament of her passion and dedication to teaching. I have been blessed to work alongside Ms. Holloway for the past 12 years. When you work with someone for that long they become family. Karrie was my family; she was our family. Our hearts grieve with you Zach, Aleah, and the entire Holloway family as you endure this profound loss. We too do not know what we are going to do without her. But there is one thing I do know, her infectious smile, bubbly laugh, brilliant mind, and unmatched kindness will live on in the lives she touched forever. Rest in heaven Ms. Holloway until we meet again, I love you.  God bless you all.

Karrie, you will be missed by many.   Missing you will be hard for me, so I live on the wonderful memories we shared over the years, like the times when we would share rides to and from work . Whenever one of our cars did not work. I missed your laughs when something funny would happen in our classroom.  You were the first paraprofessional whom I had the pleasure of working with.  I remember I would have to run and check on students, and I would yell, "Karrie, you got this ? Your reply was " I got it, Ms. Richards, go do what you do."   I was so proud of you when you became a teacher. You proudly took the class and taught Basic  English skills to our students.   You thanked me once for teaching you how to work with our students.  My words to you, " You were born to teach,"  you gave me that unique laugh.  In the twelve years I have known you, you have been fair and honest.  I will drink a cup of coffee each morning and laugh for you.  Please look over your family to help them through this tough time. The other day I heard you say, "Ok, Ms Richards, I will."

   I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I have many memories of Karrie growing up. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. I’ll be keeping you in my prayers.

Karrie was loved by everyone that knew her and was many things to many people. To me she was a sister and a true friend. She loved being a teacher and I learned so much from you Karrie! You will be missed more than words can express. Karrie was the strongest person I have ever met and was a true angel. I will not be the same without you, I will love you forever, my beautiful sister.

I remember spending my summers going swimming, playing racket ball and eating cherry chip cookies with Karrie You will be missed so much! You were a kind and beautiful person ! Love Paula

Karrie was such a beautiful, amazing child who was born fighting and left us fighting. She fought so hard to continue to live for her children,her family,  her students and her coworkers. She loved everyone of us with her entire heart and soul. She fought hard with courage and grace and over came many obstacles in her life .She will be missed beyond what words can convey and leaves us with a void in our hearts that can't be filled. Rest in peace Karrie.
