Kaye Minato, 90, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents Juichi and Wasano Takasuye, and her husband Harold of 52 years. Also preceding her, were one brother, three sisters and her first born daughter, Kathy. Kaye is survived by her two other daughters Jacklynn (Stephen Brooks Sr.), Sheila (Jeff Mayeda), grandchildren Kimberly K. Hikida, Stefanie Sun (William Sun), Stephen Brooks Jr, Kevin Mayeda (Thuy), Eric Mayeda and great grandchildren Logan and Braden Sun.
Kaye was a second generation Japanese-American who was born in Phoenix. She worked at The Biltmore as a designer seamstress and then in administration for Seely-Mullins for 23 years. Kaye was a very active and dedicated member of The Arizona Buddhist Temple. She enjoyed spending her retirement, trout fishing, traveling with her family and playing bingo and rummikub with lifelong friends at the senior center.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 10:00am at West Resthaven Funeral Home; 6450 W. Northern Avenue Glendale, AZ 85301.
