

Lloyd Russell Blair, 85, passed away on Friday, June 1, at John C. Lincoln in Phoenix, AZ. He was born in Casey Creek, Kentucky on September 16, 1926, the son of William J. and Lottie May Blair. Russell married Wanda Eileen Lee of Wadsworth, Ohio on September 3, 1950 and together they shared more than sixty-one years of marriage. Russell served as an Army medic in Europe during World War II. After the war, he studied physics and graduated from Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio. Russell and Wanda resided in Wadsworth, Ohio and Washington D. C. before moving to Phoenix in 1956. Russell enjoyed a long and successful career, specializing in radar engineering at Goodyear Aerospace and Loral Defense Systems, until he retired in 1988. Russell excelled at Research and Development and won multiple inventors awards. Russell was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was greatly admired by his family for his many accomplishments and his life-long dedication to family. He was an avid reader and a computer hobbyist. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; his son, Gary Blair; his two daughters, Barbara Penunuri, and Donna Karno; his six grandchildren, Nathaniel Blair, Kristin Penunuri, Taylor Penunuri, Jennifer Karno, Melissa Karno, and Rachel Karno; and his two sisters Marcene Hartman and Paula Curtis. Visitation will be 5 - 8 pm Wednesday, June 6 at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale AZ. Funeral services will be 9 am Thursday, June 7 graveside at West Resthaven Cemetery located at 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, AZ.
