

passed away peacefully on April 6, 2014 at the age of 72 after a four and a half year battle with ALS. He was born to Chase and Mary English on March 23, 1942 in Marshall Texas. After graduating from Marshall Texas High school in 1960, he joined the U.S. Army where he served for 22 years including 2 tours in Vietnam. After he retired at the rank of Sergeant 1st Class, he worked at Palo Verde Nuclear Power Generating Station for another 22 years. He then retired and spent the next 7 years enjoying retirement while traveling North America full time in a RV with his wife, Peggy English. He was a wonderful and caring man who always went out of his way to help others and lead by example. Lonnie was also a wonderful witness to Christ and was very involved in ministry at his Church. He was always cheerful and had the ability to uplift the spirits of everyone in the room, starting with a huge bear hug. Lonnie is survived by his wife, Peggy English, his daughter, Tonya Bahr and her husband Bill Bahr, Grandson Christopher Bahr; Daughter Sheryl Payne and her husband John Payne, Grandson Paul Morgan; Son Dustin Bagley, Grandson Brady Bagley, Granddaughter Blythe Bagley; Sister Frances Langston, Mother and Father-in-law Mary and Charles McGrory; Brother-in-law John Botkin and his wife Diana Botkin; Brother-in-law Pat McGrory and his wife Judy McGrory as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. There will be a military service at the National Cemetery in Phoenix Arizona on Friday, April 11 at 9 A.M. There will then be a memorial service and reception at Christ's Church of the Valley at 10:30 A.M. He will be greatly missed but we know that heaven has gained a wonderful soul and Lonnie has gained eternal joy. We love you Lonnie.
