Lynn-Marie Stanaback

Lynn Marie Stanaback was born July 13, 1938 and passed on January 4, 2011. She is survived by immediate family members: Mother Caroline Lewis (92); step-mother, Harriet Stanaback; Aunt Jane Waida; Brothers Robert Barry (Diana) Stanaback, David Stanaback, Bill Lewis, Terry (Eilene) Lewis; sister Abby Stanaback and 11 nephews, nieces ; and many great nephews, nieces and great, great nephews and nieces. She will also be missed by many long time friends. Lynn was born in Oxford, Michigan, but grew up and graduated from high school in Berkley, Michigan. She moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State University where she majored in Art. This is where she met and became involved with Girl Scout Camp leaders and began an association with Camp Mary White in New Mexico. She maintained a friendship with these camp leaders throughout her life most recently with annual reunions. As an Artist she worked in many different arenas from Scottsdale Art Galleries where she was privileged to meet the artist Ted DeGrazia to doing Murals at The Stockyards Restaurant; but she did most of her art work as a free lance artist doing illustrations for the newspapers for various department stores and businesses. She was able to hone her art sills by studying art in San Miquel de Allende Mexico which began a lifelong love affair with Mexico, its culture and people. So when she retired early and a life of travel, splitting her time between Pt Townsend WA and Arizona she was able to spend a considerable amount of time roaming the small villages and beaches of Mexico both sailing and RV-ing. She lived a rich and full life with a curious, inquisitive, open mind always looking for the next adventure. Donations in her memory can be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition P.O.
