Maria De La Luz, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025 on her 87th birthday. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and longtime member of OLPH Catholic Church, she lived a life shaped by faith, resilience, and unconditional love.

She became a widow at the young age of 45 and faced the immense challenge of raising two children, Nancy and Robert—just 10 and 12 years old at the time—on her own. Through her courage, determination, and unwavering love, she built a warm and stable life for her family despite the hardships she faced.

For many years, Maria also known as Maria de la Light by her close friends, served the Catholic community through her work as the cook and housekeeper at OLPH. She shared her voice and her faith as a dedicated member of the church choir, where her singing brought comfort, hope, and joy to countless people.

Maria was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert, who passed away earlier this year.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy, and son-in-law, Terry; her granddaughters, Simonia and Cecilia; and her great-grandchildren, Robby, Rose, and Ryder; and her daughter-in-law, Roseanne.

Those who knew Maria will remember her warmth, generosity, and the deep faith that guided her throughout her life.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her son Robert and her beloved husband, and that her legacy of love and faith will live on through the generations she nurtured.

A visitation will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, on December 4, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A prayer service will take place at the same location on December 4, 2025, from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

The funeral service is scheduled for December 5, 2025, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, located at 5614 W Orangewood Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.

The committal service will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, situated at 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, on December 5, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
