Marian Patricia Leal

Marian Patricia Leal, aka Pat, passed away on August 2, 2026. Born on April 21, 1939, in Rio Vista, California, to John and Madeline Gomez, she spent her childhood in Rio Vista alongside the Sacramento River Delta where she developed her love of fishing from her dad.

After graduation, Pat moved to the Bay Area and began her career at National Can as a Production Controller. One day at a company picnic, she pointed out a handsome man to her daughter and said she was going to marry him.

In 1980, she met him, the love of her life, Robert G Leal Sr., aka Bob. From the moment they met, they became inseparable. One of their favorite pastimes began during lunch at work. They would sit together and watch their favorite soap opera while they ate. What started as a simple lunchtime tradition continued throughout their years of marriage. They wed on the 4th of July 1984 in front of several close friends who all joined them on the trip over to Reno, Nevada. It was said the wedding officiant looked just like Benny Hill.

During their 42 years of married life, they enjoyed participating in bowling tournaments with their National Can team, fishing the Delta from their houseboat including attending the annual Bass Derby, travelling across the country in their RV home, and annual trips to New Mexico to visit family and to stock up on their beloved green chiles.

In 2000, she and Bob moved to Arizona to begin their retired life and found their dream home. They enjoyed all the area had to offer from Sedona to trips to Rocky Point Mexico, drifting down the river on tubes, casino trips, many family gatherings to enjoy good food, swimming and much laughter.

Pat was a beautiful woman with a beautiful, kind heart. She was a caring mom and stepmom. She embraced her blended family and leaves behind quite a legacy. She was a fun grandmother who loved to play the Beach Boys while driving the grandkids around. Pat loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her fur babies, Sasha, Shari and Lin Su were her life.

Pat leaves behind her devoted husband of 42 years, Bob; her beloved daughters, Renee Burgess (David), Robin Real, Mychelle Mercedes (Heoun) and son Robert Leal Jr (Renee); adored grandchildren, Rachelle (Brandon) and Kristan (Johnny), Jesse, Ryan (Jessenia), Renee, David, Robert, Nick, Kayden, Raven, Sable, Leeland, Jacque, Leah, Audrey (Austin) Matthew, Jasmine; great grandchildren Laila, Antonio, Madeline, Juan, Paul, Camila, Lynnette (Ulysses), David, Amelia, Kaine, Joseph, Mason, Lennon, James and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Madeline Gomez, brothers, John and Don (Beverly) Gomez, son David (Donna), granddaughter Rachelle; great grandson Cameron, many beloved family members, close friends and fur baby Sasha.
