Marie F. Earley

February 28, 1933 – September 6, 2021
Obituary of Marie F. Earley
IN THE CARE OF

West Resthaven Funeral Home & Resthaven Park Cemetery

Marie was born on a cold day on February 28, 1933, in Corning, New York to Fannie and Louis Stirpe.

After graduating from High School Marie set out to study and see the world better known as Buffalo, New York. Her quest was to become a licensed beautician and be a career woman. But then fate stepped in when Marie met Francis (Fran) Earley Jr and they married on October 6, 1956. Together they had 2 children, Leslie and Francis (Frank). Fran worked for IBM which led to them living in many different places across the United States. Marie was deeply involved with her children’s school activities. And enjoyed playing Bridge. She absolutely LOVED football. Claiming she once dreamt that she threw a touchdown pass to herself in a big game!

In 1978, the family moved to Tucson, Arizona. Marie loved the hot weather. She made many friends in Tucson and enjoyed living there.

In 2007, at her new daughter in-law, Shirley’s encouragement, she moved to Phoenix to live with her son and his new bride. She loved living with them and enjoyed helping out around the house. After heart surgery in 2010, she joined a Cave Creek gym. Most weekdays at 5:30 am, Marie could be found at the gym working out (aka socializing). She soon became known as “The Mayor” and would hold city hall meetings to discuss important matters (scores from the previous day) with her constituents. She met many dear friends there. She had one stationary bike (City Hall) that she used. Whenever she arrived, people would get off her bike so she could use it and socialize. She could often be heard saying, “I think I do pretty good!”

She traveled to many places with Frank and Shirley. She loved to go on cruises. She went to Alaska, Hawaii and the east coast to see the Fall colors.

Marie passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2021. She will be deeply missed by her son, his wife Shirley and her daughter Leslie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, and 4 brothers and 1 sister.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of the Valley or the American Diabetes Association in her name.
