Mary Elena Garcia, 94, passed away on June 12, 2026. Born on August 28, 1931, Mary was raised in Glendale, AZ, the daughter of Agustine and Maria Aguilar. One of five children, she grew up in a close-knit family, and that early devotion to togetherness remained a steady thread throughout her life. Mary later made her home in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mary’s life was marked by steadfast work and genuine care for others. She spent many years in textiles and, through determination and pride in a job done well, opened her own dress shop, “Frani’s Fashions,” in Glendale Arizona. Customers were drawn not only to the beautiful dresses, but to Mary herself—her patient attention, her warm presence, and her gift for helping each person feel seen as she found “the perfect dress.” In all she did, Mary showed her family the dignity of hard work and the strength that comes from providing with love.
Mary met the love of her life, Tranquilino “Kilo” Garcia III, when he was the neighbor down the road as she was growing up. They married in 1951 and built their family with their children, Tranquilino “Kilo” Garcia IV (Diana Garcia) and Francis Gallegos. Mary was a devoted mother whose kindness was constant and whose support could be counted on without hesitation. She gave freely of herself, and when family needed help, she was often the first to step forward—quietly, willingly, and without expecting anything in return.
Mary found joy in both celebration and simplicity. She loved dancing, and she treasured time with her grandchildren—especially trips to Disneyland and wherever else the children hoped to go. She also enjoyed camping trips with her family, and in retirement she embraced peaceful routines, including quiet mornings with coffee in the backyard, content in the calm of everyday life.
Mary was preceded in death by her spouse, Tranquilino “Kilo” Garcia III. She is survived by her son, Tranquilino “Kilo” Garcia IV (Diana Garcia); her daughter, Francis Gallegos; her grandchildren, Angela (Mark), Salvador, Tranquilino “Kilo” V, Leticia (Gabriel), Jaime, Melissa (Mark); her great grandchildren, Christina (Josh), Aubriana, Angelique, Tranquilino “Kilo” VI, Jay-D, Esperanza, Salvador Jr., Leilani, Amarie, Santino, Gianna, Brandon, Brianna; and her great great grandchildren, Caleb and Cain.
