On June 27, 2026, there was a glorious sunset … and our Mike was unexpectedly called home to Heaven. There, he was reunited with his son, Mike, Jr., and all those who have gone before us.
Words cannot capture the person he was: Not the smile of the little travieso playing in the Glendale barrio with his brothers and sister. Not the mischievous sense of humor he possessed. Not his love of oldies music, love of a good time, or the love he had for his family and friends. It is impossible to adequately sum up his life. What it comes down to: Mike was loved beyond measure. We were blessed to have him in our lives. We miss him. We look forward to the day we will all be reunited again.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife, Kathy; daughter, Melissa; parents, Rita Aviles Alvarez and Jesus R. Alvarez (Porfiria); siblings, Alex (Imelda) Alvarez, Larry Alvarez, and Carrie Alvarez; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; his many nieces and nephews; uncle, Jose “Joe” Alvarez, and countless cousins and friends.
