

Born Michael Fair, 93, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2013. He was born May 29, 1920 in Dysart, Scotland and was raised in South Buffalo NY. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Gladys (Keicher). He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Cotton (Joel), Michael Haren (Diana), Beverly Boughton (Morris), Diane Leonard (Giles) and Gale Collins (Chris); also his 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Survived by James Haren and Ethnea Runfola.
Michael served in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart in addition to various other United States Army Service Awards. He and Gladys bought their home in West Seneca, NY, and there they raised their 5 children. He was employed by Pacific Transportation and delivered foods to various A&P stores in Western New York. After Michael and Gladys moved to Phoenix in 1976, he was employed at Smitty’s, as a truck driver. In South Buffalo NY he was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. John the Evangelist Church and he was an active member of the Monsignor Nash Council Knights of Columbus. In Phoenix he continued to be active at Our Lady of the Valley Church and he became Grand Knight at the Knights of Columbus in Phoenix.
He was a gentleman, kind, loving and generous. Nothing was more important than his love for his wife Gladys, and he missed her dearly upon her passing in 2007. Next to his wife, he took great joy spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. He enjoyed travelling and visited places like Cuba, Italy, Bosnia, Scotland, Hawaii, Alaska, and enjoyed visiting his family in New York and Colorado.
Michael will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary 7924 N. 59th Ave. Glendale, AZ 85301 on Sunday, August 18 from 5-9pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Roman Catholic Church, 3220 W. Greenway Rd., Phoenix, AZ. on Monday, August 19 at 11am.
