Mildred Evelyn Brodie, 82, of Phoenix, entered the gates of heaven on January 6, 2014. She was born on November 8, 1931 in Mansfield, Illinois to Harvey and Nina Pilchard. She moved to Phoenix in 1962. Mildred was employed at Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 39 years. After five years of retirement she went on to work as a bank teller for three years, then worked for 13 years at John C Lincoln North Mountain Hospital before retiring in September 2012.
She loved being with family, listening to and singing country music, and the occasional casino visit. She was known for her hard work, quick wit, and generosity. Mildred was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Brodie, and is survived by daughters JoAnn (Frank) Lopez, Karen (Jerry) Beattie, son Scott (Conni) Brodie, grandchildren Larry (Lucinda) McClure, Jennifer Brodie, Chris (Jill) McClure, and Erin (Sam) Street. In addition, Mildred was "GG" to five great grandchildren, Jessica Davenport, Tyler McClure, Julianna McClure, Jaclyn McClure and Jillian McClure.
A celebration of Mildred's life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N 59th Avenue, with visitation from 10:00am - noon followed by a brief service in the West Chapel. Graveside service 12:45 at Resthaven Cemetery.
