Molly Rebecca Shalley, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City West on January 25, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born on July 9, 1933 in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England. Molly grew up in England during World War II where her father was an engineer who worked on building air bases for the American Army Air Forces. She met her future husband, Ivan, through mutual friends on a blind date. Molly and Ivan were married on February 8, 1969 in Mildenhall, Suffolk, England. Ivan was serving in the United States Air Force at RAF Mildenhall at the time and shortly after their marriage they moved to Gentile Air Force Base in Kettering, Ohio. Subsequent assignments lead them to the Philippines, Escondido, California, and then finally Phoenix, Arizona. Molly was an avid gardener, she loved to read, she was very involved in painting, and she loved to travel particularly going on cruises all over the world. She took a degree in interior design at Phoenix College and her homes always reflected her style.

Molly is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Ivan, her daughter Susan Schwartzkopf and son-in-law Marc, her sister Anthea, her grandchildren Matthew, Joshua, Michelle, Jennifer, Amanda, and Alyssa, and her great-grandchildren Kobe, Preston, Brookelyn, and Brinley. She was preceded in death by her sons Steven and Andrew.

Mum, I miss you so much. I can not believe that you were taken from us so fast.

We moved in next door in June of 1994. A very lovely lady came over and brought a tray of cookies and drink. We knew then that we had picked a great neighborhood. We were the newest on the block but we were welcomed with open arms. We knew we were with great neighbors. Just before they decided to move we walked out of the house to go somewhere when we were met with three cop cars in front of the house. We did ask what was going on and the first cop said nothing. The next car stopped and that cop asked us if the neighbors had a car. We told them yes but they kept it in the garage. He finally told us that their alarm was going off. I offered to call them and he was surprised that I knew their phone number. I called the cell phone number first and Molly didn’t answer. I then said I would call the house phone. Molly answered and told her that there some nice officers that wanted to see them. The officer was very impressed that not only did we know them but we had their phone numbers.
Their yard was always well kept and beautiful. We enjoyed the grapefruit. I also have some beautiful flower arrangements that Molly did for my home.
They were the best neighbors and we really do miss them being next door and their great Christmas party.
