Myra "Lee" Ford

Myra “Lee” Ford (92) of Glendale, Arizona passed away peacefully, Wednesday January 16, 2019 at home with her family surrounding her. Lee was born to parents, Kenneth and Louise Howell on November 3, 1926 in the State of Colorado. Lee grew up in Beverly Hills where she was a gymnast and went to high school with several well-known actors like Betty Davis and Shirley Temple Black. Lee moved to Nebraska where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Lloyd Ford. They were married on March 3, 1947 and bought a small farm in Grainton, Nebraska. Bill and Lee had two sons, David Lloyd and Douglas Lee who were raised on the farm. They lived on the farm for 28 years until they retired in 1974 and moved to Littleton, Colorado. The Fords enjoyed traveling, camping and going on cruises. On one of their many expeditions they traveled to Alaska, where they posted their name on a sign post plate, in Lake Watson’s sign post forest, a historical site. Bill and Lee moved to Casa Del Sol in Glendale, Arizona in 1987, where they met many friends including their dear friends, Bill and Jean Waltman. Lee was an energetic, hard worker who volunteered her time to help those in need. She volunteered her time at the food bank, in the thrift shop at Glen Croft and even helped make sleeping mats for the homeless. Lee moved to Glen Croft after Bill passed where she made countless friends and was involved with many of the activities they had, including a role in a play. She also met her beloved friend Dorothy at Glen Croft, who took daily walks together, got into all kinds of mischief and sat on the infamous blue bench with. Myra “Lee” Ford is preceded in death by her husband Bill and son David. Myra Lee is survived by family Anne MacDonald (daughter in-law, wife of David) and their daughter Willa. Son, Douglas and his children Aaron and Matisa and her daughters (great grandchildren) Leilana and Milani. Granddaughter Shari (James) Sletteland, and her daughters (great grandchildren) Jolie and Halie. Extended family members include (nieces) Amy Hoover and Dee (Bob) Warner, (nephew) Kenneth (Diana) Howell. (great nephew and nieces) Jake Howell, April (Todd) Kohler, Paul Evers, Lisa Amerins, Greg Amerins, Powell Warner, Lori (Chris) Pearce Halloman. (great, great nieces) Keilee, Linnea and Quinn Pearce, Brianna and Alexis Amerins. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Avenue, Glendale, Arizona at 2:00 pm. Lee’s final resting place will be at Madrid Cemetery, Madrid Nebraska. Any memorial donations can be made to the food bank at Northminster Presbyterian Church.

Heaven is brighter with Lee arriving. What a wonderful woman who is deeply missed by her neighbors and friends. Will miss her sitting in her front yard greeting everyone. God Bless you Lee.
