Nancy Jane Garland

Nancy Jane Garland passed away on June 26, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 14, 1940, in Carthage, Illinois, Nancy was the second of six children born to Orville and Madeline Howell. She resided in Surprise, Arizona, where she touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity.

Nancy married Carl Garland on July 4, 1956. Their union lasted over 53 years until Carl's passing on October 29, 2009. Together, they raised three children: Lynne, Mitch, and David.

Nancy worked for 15 years at Lucky Stores as a bookkeeper and cashier before embarking on a new venture with Carl, running an antique business where they refinished and sold many pieces.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Lynne (Gilbert) Cordova, her sons Mitch (Sharon) Garland and David (Bridget) Garland, her sister Sally Heathcoat, her brother Casey (Shirley) Howell, eight grandchildren: Colby, Candace, Michael, Melissa, Kady, Maria, Danny, and Alexis, sixteen great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Merlin Howell, and two sisters, Vonetta Egli and Peggy Ellett.

Nancy's talents extended beyond her professional life, as she was an accomplished seamstress who delighted in sewing. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and was thrilled when she had the opportunity to be photographed with an Elvis impersonator at her grandson Colby's Las Vegas wedding.

A memorial service will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, Arizona, 85301, on July 18, 2025, at 10:00 am.

A committal service will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, situated at 6450 West Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona, 85301, on the same day.
