Oscar S. Gutierrez, 79, of Glendale, Arizona joined his wife in heaven on June 9, 2021. Oscar was born in Guadalupe, Chihuahua Mexico the 5th of 10 children to Belen (Ramos) and Cesario Gutierrez.

Oscar grew up in Ascension, Mexico where he attended school and worked with his family on the family farm. Oscar was a hard worker and very determined from a very early age, traits he instilled in his own children.

In his late teens, he ventured out looking for his passion. Oscar worked several different jobs to find his niche. He took a job as a rent collector, he owned and operated his own small store, did odd jobs in a circus and worked at a racetrack. It was at the racetrack that Oscar met a cattle rancher, who appreciated his work ethic and offered him a position at his ranch in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Oscar moved to New Mexico and started working right away. While working he became acquainted with the nanny, Irene Robles, who later became his wife and only true love. Oscar and Irene had 5 beautiful children together.

Oscar was appreciative for the experience he had at the racetrack, but still wanted more for his family. Oscar had a love for outdoors. He loved planting and being creative. Oscar also learned that he liked the feeling of working for himself and the opportunities it gave him to help other. This led him to open his own landscaping business, which he operated for over 30 years until he retired.

Oscar loved to read. He believed that knowledge was power. He was drawn to history, anything that challenged the brain, and current events. His loved reading the “Reader’s Digest” and newspaper, doing x-word puzzles, and going to the library. He liked taking his family on road trips to see historical sites and the country.

Oscar loved antiques, collecting ball caps, and the outdoors. He was very proud of his yard and all the plants and trees he nurtured. He had a special place where he sat outside just to take in the sights and smells.

Oscar will be remembered for his kindness, his sincere and loving heart; his willingness to open his arms, home, and heart for his family, friends, neighbors, and sometimes complete strangers.

As a father, Oscar will be remembered by his children for all of his hard work and coming to this country to make a better life for them. He will be remembered for his life lessons; work with your brain not with your back and get an education, which each of his children did; remain dedicated to your families, have courage to do the right thing, and always remember be kind to others.

Oscar leaves behind his children; Ruben Gutierrez, Efrain (Silvia) Gutierrez, Oscar Javier (Marisa) Gutierrez, and Rosario (Esmagardo) Vargas: grandchildren; Cynthia, Daniel, Lauren, Laura, Adrian, Andrea, Cesar, Natalia, Eric, Karina and Crystal: Siblings Virginia, Julian, Antonio, and Carmela; and many other close family and friends too many to list.

Oscar is preceded in heaven by the love of his life Irene; his daughter Laura Denise Gutierrez; and his siblings Ruben, Felipe, Eligio, Nicolasa, and Gustavo.
