Otilia “Tillie” B. Gomez, 85, of Phoenix, Arizona entered into heaven on October 22, 2020 peacefully, with her children by her side. Tillie was born August 25, 1935 to Jose and Maria Baquera. She was the 4th born out of 5 girls. Until Tillie was a young teen she lived in Rincon, New Mexico, on a farm with her parents and siblings. The family then moved to Las Cruses, New Mexico, where her father built their home, and family still lives there.
Otilia married when she was young and raised four beautiful children. In the late 60’s, with her children, Otilia relocated to the Phoenix area. She remained very active with her faith and very involved with her children.
Otilia was a devout Catholic attending St. Simon & Jude for many years. In her younger days, Otilia loved to bowl. She also loved to gamble and would often take bus tours to Laughlin and Las Vegas. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching game shows. Her favorite program was “Dancing with the Stars.” Her and Sylvia and Arlinda also attended Dancing with the Stars Live whenever they would tour to Phoenix. She also loved the Price is Right and Bob Barker. In 2002, she was even invited to go back stage with Bob Barker and “hang out” before the show! Otilia’s true passion was the unconditional love of her family. She raised her 4 children and when grandchildren came along, she was always there to babysit and make sure they were cared for. She always enjoyed taking care of all the family’s animals when they would go out of town.
Otilia had a twenty year career with Motorola manufacturing circuit boards.
Otilia leaves behind her x-husband Enrique Gomez; children- Frank Gomez (and wife Arlinda) and Sylvia Barton (and husband Bob); Grandchildren- Brandon, Savannah, Tori, A.J., Jason, Jake, Jeff, Tyler, Angela and Angel; Great grandchildren- Nikko, Lexie, Ben, Jessie, Brock, Jeremiah and Jocelyn; and sisters, Erlinda and Josie.
