

Phyllis was born on July, 23, 1942 in Prescott, Arizona, to Clemente Marquez and Alice (De Los Angeles) Marquez. She was the eldest of four girls. She spent her school years in Flagstaff and graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1960.
She was married to Freddy Ramirez for 58 years. Together, they raised four children, Michael, Nancy, Larry, and John. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker.
Her professional career had many chapters. In Flagstaff, she worked as a waitress. After moving to Phoenix, she spent some time as a manager at Mary Moppets Day Care centers. She loved caring for and preparing healthy meals for so many young children. She eventually started a successful cleaning service, which lasted for many years. She took pride in cleaning apartments and preparing them for new tenants. Her professional life was characterized by her 20 plus years of service at Sears department store at Metrocenter. She held many positions, but took the most joy in working as a sales associate in the Women’s apparel, and heading up the replenishment department. She used her creativity to produce many of the displays that attracted customers to her department.
She had a passion for everything related to her family. She enjoyed family reunions and loved to visit with her cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She loved hosting sleep-overs with her grandchildren, preparing wonderful meals and treats for everyone. She enjoyed camping in her motor home, often frequenting the forests of northern Arizona and Rocky Point down south. She was the person that everyone went to for advice. She was often referred to as the rock of the family, as she always had a way of helping everyone during the struggles of life.
She had a love for anything related to her home state of Arizona. She loved history, traveling, and trains, as her Father had a lifetime career with the Sante Fe railroad. She had a passion for jewelry, especially the native turquoise and silver pieces.
She is survived by her husband Freddy, her children Michael (Karla), Nancy (Santiago), Larry (Joy), and John (Be), 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
She leaves behind the legacy of strength, love, and compassion for everyone around her. She had a deep passion for life, family, and the Lord. She will long be remembered by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed by all.
A visitation will be held on December 3, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, located at 7924 North 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same venue from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral mass is scheduled for December 4, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 5510 W Cholla St, Glendale, AZ 85304. A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
