Ramona Amarillas

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ramona Amarillas announces her passing on November 7, 2025. After ninety remarkable years, she entered into peaceful rest, leaving behind a legacy of a life well lived. Ramona was born on December 15, 1934, in Glendale, Arizona. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and matriarch whose love and warmth touched everyone she met. She was blessed with a large and loving family — 10 children, 34 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren — all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

Ramona had a deep love for life and a joyful, rambunctious, spirit that could light up any room. She especially loved dancing and singing, often bringing laughter and music into family gatherings and celebrations. Her strength, determination and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Eloisa Dominguez, her husband, Jesus Amarillas, her 3 children, Frankie Amarillas, Jesus (Junior) Amarillas, and Christina Marquez. Ramona is survived by her children, Angie Amarillas, Mary Amarillas, Dora Flores, Johnny Amarillas, Rita Morales, Olivia Amarillas, Eloisa Gomez and 3 generations of grandchildren who will continue her legacy of strength and resilience.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ramona’s life on Friday November 21st and Saturday November 22nd. Her viewing on Friday will be at Resthaven Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. A Catholic Mass will commence at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 22nd. The Mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Peoria. Following the Mass, her funeral procession will include a short trip down memory lane, driving past Ramona’s homes, where she raised her children, and ending with her Interment at Resthaven Park Cemetery.

Ramona’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
