Richard Monterosso (78) - husband, father, and uncle passed away unexpectedly at home on July 6, 2024.
Richard grew up in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, attending the public schools there and completing his college degree at Wagner College in Staten Island. He began his career as a teacher in the New York City schools, but he was drawn to world travel. He left the safety of a city job to travel the globe, teaching English in various locations in order to continue his trek. These locations included Japan, Iran, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, India and many countries in Europe.
His early interests included photography and tropical fish, but world travel broadened his interests. He became knowledgeable about hand-woven Oriental carpets, and filled his home with beautiful mementos of his travel. For many years he enjoyed swimming and scuba diving.
Richard is survived by his wife, Bijuan Su and her daughter Jiaxuan Fang, his son, Khalil Monterosso and his wife, Anna, his daughter, Arianna Monterosso, his brother, Paul Jeffrey Monterosso and his wife, Kari, as well as nieces and nephews.
