Born on May 16, 1951, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, determination, and an unwavering love for his family. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he honorably served his country before continuing his professional career with the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller and a Computer Technical Analyst/Programmer. His career reflected his intelligence, precision, and dedication to public safety.
While Robert took great pride in his military service and professional accomplishments, his greatest joy came from being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Known for his sense of humor, stubborn determination, and fiercely protective nature, Robert was a man who loved his family deeply. He had a way of making people laugh, standing firm in what he believed, and always looking out for those he loved.
Robert had a lifelong passion for model trains, a hobby that brought him countless hours of enjoyment. He also generously volunteered his time at the Scottsdale Train Park, sharing his love of trains with others. When the opportunity arose, he enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and making memories along the way.
One of Robert's favorite traditions was Halloween. His home became affectionately known as the "Play-Doh House," where children could count on receiving Play-Doh instead of the usual candy. He loved sitting outside, watching the neighborhood children arrive in their costumes, and seeing the excitement on their faces. It was one of the many simple pleasures that brought him happiness.
And when it came to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robert was in a league of his own. He loved spoiling them, especially during the holidays, when he famously gave Santa Claus some serious competition every holiday season. His generosity was simply another expression of the tremendous love he had for his family.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Ellen; his children, Edward (Christy), Marcia (Kurt), Julianna (Felipe), and Jennifer (Brian); his grandchildren, Olivia, Maxwell, Julianna, Donoven, Tylor, and Caden; and his great-grandchildren, Sonia and Sebastian. He is also survived by his sister, Heidi (Billy); his brothers, Stuart (Marlene) and Alan (Michelle); and his nieces and nephews, Katie (Tyler), Henry (Elizabeth), Diane (Michael), George, Faith, and Brian.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Najee; his parents, Keith R. Neal and Ramona L. Prehara; his brother, Richard; and his sisters, Brenda and Bobetta.
Robert was the anchor of his family, a source of strength, protection, laughter, and unconditional love. His presence brought comfort, his determination inspired those around him, and his hugs were the kind that made everything feel a little better.
Though his absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
He and his hugs will be missed more than words could ever say.
